Dispelling Myth and Misconceptions (Part 1)
The course addresses assimilation, discrimination, multiculturalism, challenges of immigrants, and integration in society. Besides these concepts, you will learn about misconceptions regarding jihad, women's rights, and freedom of religion.
This course applies to all those who are living in a dominant culture and want to know what the issues of assimilation and cultural pluralism for intergroup relations. Diversity is often seen as a source of strength, but at the same time, it can be a source of conflict due to the inevitable challenges of pluralism: the ever-growing conflicts between religious, national, and ethnic groups and the growing oppression and injustice towards individuals by the dominant group.
The course will provide excellent training for educators, life coaches, social workers, human rights advocates, and interfaith activists who want to create a multicultural and pluralistic society. Students will learn about different types of pluralism, and the advantages, and disadvantages of pluralism.
Pluralism is a learned behavior and it needs to be cultivated in everyday life. It is a lifelong learning process that requires personal effort to create a pluralistic society. let's learn, grow, and evolve as a human race.
